Firm Profile

Paul Irving and Patti Drotter formed the boutique tax advisory and wealth management firm of Praetorian Advisors in October 2001 after spending a combined three decades providing high value and quality financial planning services to individuals and their closely held entities.

Praetorian Advisors’ select client base consists primarily of successful families, but also estates, corporations, trusts, family partnerships and other entities associated with these individuals. Many of our clients require strategic tax planning relating to stock options and other forms of equity compensation, an area in which we provide a deep level of expertise. Corporate Executives, entrepreneurial business owners, professional athletes and estates with administrative needs, among others, are also representative of the client base.

Using our expertise gained over 50 plus years of experience, and a network of advisors devoted to the affluent, Praetorian Advisors is able to provide first class financial solutions to its clients. Our network of outside advisors includes: experts in the fields of mortgage, commercial and residential real estate, life and executive compensation insurance, and property and casualty insurance; estate planning and transactional attorneys; investment advisors; private bankers; general contractors and interior designers; and small business service providers (including printing, graphic design, payroll, and communications).  It is important to note that Praetorian Advisors does not engage in fee sharing arrangements with these other professionals.  Recommendations and introductions we make are with your best interests in mind.  In other words, we always sit on the same side of the table with and for you.
